Pound Hill Toybox is a charity that has been registered since 1992, and has adopted many improvements along the way. We are a small preschool managed by an experienced committee, inspected and registered with Ofsted.
Benefitting from being a fun, friendly and fully inclusive setting, Toybox provides exceptional care within a safe and free flow enabling environment. While recognising and valuing their uniqueness, we tailor learning journeys to meet the individual needs of every child to ensure that everyone makes progress to the best of their ability.
Our devoted and dedicated team of trained and experienced educators hold recognised qualifications up to level 6, with one apprentice working towards their level 3 in childcare. All staff hold an up-to-date DBS certificate, are paediatric first aid trained, and attend Prevent and Safeguarding training.
We have a key person system in place, and they are responsible for helping your child to settle into preschool, and building trusting working relationships with all our families. This forms a large part of their learning journey, to ensure the needs of every child’s emotional, social and physical development are supported to become the fully equipped life-long learners they are capable of becoming.
Our preschool day consists of a broad range of child-led and adult initiated play-based learning activities, that encompass the seven areas of learning as set out in the Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS), 2020.
Children’s interests and differing learning styles are reflected upon to make certain that experiences and activities are planned around them allowing children to feel empowered to become confident and skilled participants of learning creating strong and lasting foundations.
We encompass a free-flow environment with access to a large play area. Children can choose which environment they wish to learn in and engage in many first-hand experiences in a natural environment.
We recognise the core themes of the EYFS and actively work hard to ensure all children have equal opportunities without discrimination. There are four core themes of the EYFS that are the basis of the guidance for our childcare. These are:
1. Recognising that every child is unique
2. Building positive relationships
3. Providing enabling environments
4. Foster learning and development
In addition to the 15 hours universal free entitlement that all 3 to 4-year-olds receive, we also accept Government 30 hours free childcare for any family who meets the eligibility criteria set out by HMRC.
